DR THEN memperhatikan Dunya membaca selepas berjaya dalam pembedahan OOPK di PPUKM. (Akhbar Berita Harian, 18 November 2008)
The first Osteo-Odonto Keratoprosthesis Surgery (OOKP) in Malaysia was successfully done by UKMMC’s Ophthalmology Consulting Specialist (Cornea), Dr. Then Kong Yong with the help from the Department of Maxilofacial Surgery.
The surgery was done on a patient that had cornea blindness and had no chance of having any other cornea surgeries.
The surgery which was done in 2 stages, was successfully accomplished on a patient in April and July 2008. The patient, Mr. Dunya Enchana, now has the best 6/36 vision compared with before when he can only see the perception of light. |
